These pygmy seahorses are so good at changing colors for camouflage

Pygmy seahorses are super tiny creatures that have the awesome ability to camouflage. They attach themselves to colorful corals and blend in so seamlessly that I have a hard time picking them out. What’s cool is that even if the pygmy seahorses are descendants of orange seahorses, they can adapt and become purple if that’s the only coral nearby. Read more…

Here’s how the wheels of the supersonic car are made

When you’re trying to build the fastest car in human history, like the guys making the Bloodhound SSC, you have to make wheels that basically re-invent the wheel. To reach 1000mph and go supersonic, the wheels they’re using weigh over 230 pounds, nearly 3 feet wide and spin four times faster than a F1 car. Read more…

This video shows how pretty much everything in Game of Thrones is fake

By now, we know that Game of Thrones uses a heavy VFX hand when it comes to building the world of Westeros but it’s still amazing how real their visual effects can make it look. That’s because pretty much everything is fake. Seriously. Anything far off in the distance or people standing around or flags waving have all been added in digitally. Read more…
