Malware Distributed Through Twitch Chat Is Hijacking Steam Accounts

An anonymous reader writes If you use Twitch don’t click on any suspicious links in the video streaming platform’s chat feature. Twitch Support’s official Twitter account issued a security warning telling users not to click the “csgoprize” link in chat. According to f-secure, the link leads to a Java program that asks for your name and email. If you provide the info it will install a file on your computer that’s able to take out any money you have in your Steam wallet, as well as sell or trade items in your inventory. “This malware, which we call Eskimo, is able to wipe your Steam wallet, armory, and inventory dry, ” says F-Secure. “It even dumps your items for a discount in the Steam Community Market. Previous variants were selling items with a 12 percent discount, but a recent sample showed that they changed it to 35 percent discount. Intel Launches Xeon E5 V3 Series Server CPUs With Up To 18 Cores

MojoKid writes Intel took the wraps off its Xeon E5 v3 server line-up today and the chip, based on Intel’s Haswell-EP architecture, is looking impressive. Intel’s previous generation Xeon E5 V2 chips, which were based on Ivy Bridge, topped out at 12 cores per socket. The new Xeon E5 v3 processors, in contrast, are going to push as high as 18 cores per socket — a 50% improvement. The TDP range is pushing slightly outwards in both directions; the E5 V2 family ranged from 50W to 150W, whereas the E5 V3 family will span 55W — 160W in a single workstation configuration. The core technologies Intel is introducing to the E5 V3 family pull from the Haswell architecture, including increased cache bandwidth, improved overall IPC, and new features like AVX2, which offers a theoretical near-doubling of floating point performance over the original AVX instructions. Google Serves Old Search Page To Old Browsers

Rambo Tribble writes: In an apparent move to push those using older browsers to update, Google is reported to be serving outdated search pages to said browsers. The older pages lack features available on the newer versions, and this policy compounds with the limits announced in 2011 on Gmail support for older web clients.
